Announcing Beverly Fall Baseball

Beverly Little League Community,

During the annual meeting last week we stated one of the goals is to get kids playing baseball again, and we are excited to announce that we will be offering Fall Baseball, though it will be a bit different than in past years.

We are offering three sessions each weekend through October 31st, weather permitting for each of the following age groups:

  • 7-9 year olds, intending to play A/AA next year, hitting off a tee
  • 9-10 year olds, intending to play AAA, with coach pitch
  • 10-12 year olds, intending to play Majors, with coach or kid pitch

These sessions will be offered free of charge to all that sign up.

The sessions are open to all Beverly Little League kids, ages 7-12. Little League Age is determined by age on August 31, 2021. Due to COVID restrictions, we will be limited to 20 players per session.  Each session will have a one hour skills and drills development program followed by one hour scrimmage. There will be no sharing of equipment – everyone must have their own gloves, helmets & bats, and catching equipment if needed. For those that do not have equipment, please let us know as the league has limited equipment to loan out. Additional safety protocols will be communicated later in the week and reiterated to each family as they enter the field.

Sessions for this week will be at Harry Ball on Sunday 10:00am for A/AA, 12:30pm for AAA, and 3:00pm for Majors. An email with a link to the signup form will be sent tomorrow, Wednesday, September 30th at 11am, and signups will be on a first-come, first-served basis. This will be open for players, coaching volunteers, and safety volunteers for each session.

VOLUNTEERS!

We need volunteers! If interested in helping coordinate baseball this fall, please reach out to [email protected].

We are also looking for help with the following:

  • Coaching Volunteers – Limited to 4 per team, will lead/assist skills and drills, then help kids form teams and manage/coach during scrimmage. Will also need to umpire.
  • Safety Volunteers – Check in players and parents/guardians when they arrive, confirm names and contact information, and present safety rules to all.
  • Field Maintenance – some fields are in better shape than others, but all could use field prep ahead of the sessions

All volunteers must complete a CORI form before they can participate. Fill out a CORI form by downloading it at https://www.mass.gov/doc/cori-acknowledgment-form-employment-and-housing/download and submit your completed form to beverlyllsafety@gmail.com as soon as possible.  No one may be able to volunteer on Sunday without this completed.

SAFETY

Safety protocols will be communicated later in the week, and as a community we must adhere to the safety and social distancing policies to continue playing this fall.  Thank you for your help with this.

Let’s play ball!
